The bus service affiliated with the rail service allows you to make your way from Los Angeles or from San Francisco to Mammoth without having to use a private vehicle.

Any visitor can reach the Eastern Sierra area of California by using public transportation. Through a combination of Amtrak Rail Service and Bus Service, you can reach various destinations within the Mammoth area.

Bus service provides connections from Reno or Las Vegas, Nevada, Los Angeles, California, and the San Francisco Bay area. Arrange to travel to one of these major cities on board the train and then travel by bus for the remainder of the trip.

Visitors can make their way to and from Mammoth from Reno by taking the Inyo Mono Transit bus and then transferring to the Mammoth-Ridgecrest bus. The visitor who wants to reach the Eastern Sierra from Las Vegas can take a Greyhound bus to Mojave, Ca and from Mojave take a Kern Regional Transit bus to Ridgecrest, and from Ridgecrest take an Inyo Mono Transit bus.

If you headed to Los Angeles on Amtrak, make arrangements to connect with the Kern Regional Transit system, which in turn connects to the Inyo Mono Transit bus. From the San Francisco Bay area, take Amtrak to Merced and then hop on board a YARTS bus.
